Chiang Mai University's Teaching English as a Foreign Language
Certificate Program (CMUTEFL) is Chiang Mai's only 4-week
I got my TEFL certificate from CMUTEFL a month ago, and it was a great experience. The coordinators were friendly and supportive throughout the course. Everything was well-planned, and the teaching practices were especially helpful in building our confidence to teach real students. I’m grateful to have been part of this program!

I recently completed the TEFL course at Chiang Mai University in February 2025, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. This 4-week, in-person course gave me both the skills and confidence I needed to succeed as an English teacher. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, covering everything from lesson planning and classroom management to how students acquire language. What really stood out to me was the interactive nature of the course—we didn’t just learn theory, we applied it in real teaching situations. The instructors were outstanding—experienced, supportive, and always ready to guide us. Their feedback helped me grow tremendously as a teacher. The teaching practicum was a major highlight, with opportunities to teach students at all levels—from young learners to university students, both in-person and online. I was also lucky to be part of a diverse, collaborative group of trainees. We supported each other every step of the way, which made the learning experience even richer. Chiang Mai itself is a wonderful place to study—affordable, welcoming, and culturally vibrant. The university staff were always there when we needed support, making the whole journey smooth and memorable. If you’re serious about teaching English, I highly recommend the CMUTEFL course. It offers everything you need to feel prepared and inspired to start your teaching journey.

Choosing to take the in-class TEFL course at Chiang Mai University was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my journey toward becoming an English teacher. I came in searching for a deeper, more practical understanding of what it means to teach English—not just the language itself, but how to teach it effectively across all levels: kindergarten, high school, university, and online. CMU’s TEFL course delivered exactly that. It’s a university-based, hands-on program with modern resources, an up-to-date curriculum, and incredible instructors who are both knowledgeable and supportive. The teaching practice component—across various levels and formats—helped me grow tremendously in confidence and skill. Beyond the academics, the environment was respectful and student-centered, and the continued support even after the course has been invaluable. CMU TEFL didn’t just teach me how to teach—it inspired me to teach with heart. I’m truly grateful to be part of this experience.

The curriculum strikes the perfect balance between theory and hands-on practice, with excellent instructors who are both knowledgeable and supportive. The teaching practicum gave me real classroom experience and boosted my confidence immensely. Small class sizes and a diverse group of trainees made the learning environment engaging and collaborative. Plus, studying in the culturally rich and affordable city of Chiang Mai made it even more special. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to teach English abroad—it equips you with everything you need to succeed.
